Hey lovely Reader, More than ten years ago I was singing on the beach in Koh Phangan with a sister when a song by Lena Moon called Wise in Her Ways found its way to me. I felt an immediate connection. One of those moments when a song lands in your heart and you know it’s meant to travel. And somehow, that’s exactly what happened. Around that time my soul sister Lindsey Wise was pregnant with her third child and invited me to her blessing way. I felt called to come to Bali to share the song with her. When I arrived she took me by the hand and gently insisted that I record it. I’m deeply grateful for the sisters who helped me then, and who continue to help me again and again, to get out of my own way. Not only so this song could find its path, but in life too. For me, and for so many of my sisters, learning to step out of our own way is such an important part of the journey. Over the years I’ve met people from around the world who sing Wise in Her Ways in their women’s circles, share it in yoga classes, or play it in their cafés. Every time I hear that, it feels like the song continuing its journey. Somehow it has now reached more than half a million streams across SoundCloud and Spotify, which still amazes me. It’s such a gift to witness and to be part of. In honour of International Women’s Day, March 8, I’ve been invited to be part of a collective of sisters supporting one another to rise. Together we’ve created a playlist celebrating women’s voices and empowerment. If it resonates with you, please listen, save it, and share it to help these women’s voices rise.
Saving the playlist helps these songs travel even further between women. For those of you in Bali, I’ll also be sharing a concert and vocal celebration this Sunday at the Yoga Barn. It would be so lovely to sing together. Details here: And if a sister or friend comes to mind who might enjoy this, feel free to pass it along to her. I’d love to hear from you: Which song helps your voice open? With love, P.S. My dear friend Laura and I are planning a women’s retreat called Radical Rejuvenation at The Sanctuary in Koh Phangan, Thailand, June 5–8. A 4-night / 5-day retreat for women who hold so much, and are ready to be held for a change. A few days of yoga, embodiment, voice, nature, and deep restoration together. If six women commit within the next two weeks, the retreat will go ahead and the first six women receive $300 off. Learn more here: |
